Turkey Trot, "The Free Range Edition." My mom and I planned out a Turkey Trot for our friends, where we started at our house and ran around the local park. I designed the race course and the race map, and my mom reconverted old T-shirts into race day shirts. It was a great example of a community coming together to each do their part on a project because our neighbors cheered us to the finish. My nickname was "The Cock" and I lived up to my name shepherding all the hens on the course. We stopped by the statue of Liberty and took photos for the "free" range theme. Lissie chased several squirrels on the way living up to the theme as well. My mom went Facebook Live for a portion of the run and as of 6:38 237 people watched the video, but only 19 people reacted to it proof that Facebook is just a scrolling media site. The weather was perfect, misty and a bit chilly. I came in 5th place with a time of 5:38; Some runner friends were visiting and they all cleaned up the awards - pipe cleaner turkeys on popsicle sticks, a classic. Long live the first annual Turkey trot, Free Range Edition.
