Notes
Not a bad 5K today, 2nd place overall, could've got first if I started with the leader; he maintained a 10 second gap at the start of the race and kept it the whole time. I thought he was going to be much faster than he was, considering he ran a 15:44 last year. The first mile felt good, probably could've gone a bit faster on the first mile it was mostly downhill. Somehow I really dropped off the second mile despite feeling like I picked up the pace. I knew ahead of time I wasn't going to make up time on the last mile because it was basically all up hill towards the capitol, tough last mile. The course was pretty slippery in a lot of spots, fair amount of cross traffic to avoid, people to avoid around the square, and wasn't really all that fun; probably the first and last time I run this race. The course did seem a bit long, I don't believe it was USATF certified. I did a 2 mile slow warm-up, 0 degrees today with a slight breeze. Legs felt decent, 1st mile felt comfortable, 2nd mile was solid, except for a mild fall at the 180 degree turnaround, and 3rd mile was tough, but expected. We will see how I feel tomorrow, easy recovery run with abs after. My abs weren't 100% today as well, gotta get those back before Boston.
