Notes

After PBing the Turkey Tea by nearly 2 minutes, I figured this one would be a write off. Told Caroline I was hoping for under 90 minutes but didn't care and she seemed to think that was unacceptable, so I made a plan for 87 based on Rob's 3rd place finish a couple years ago, that's what Don Fagan's done a couple times, you know. 4:4X on the uphills, 4:00 or under on the downhill and 4:0X on the flat. That's why I did the laps that way. All of them are obvious, except the fifth, which was probably flat. The uphill was a bit slower than I thought, but the downhill was way faster and the flat was faster, giving me 85:30. Could've probably caught Jeff Collingwood for fourth (Mazda Mile was 8:58, but I had more in me - just a bit afraid, unsure of where I'm at), but coulda, woulda, shoulda. He ran a great, intelligent race. To beat him, I would need more experience (thus more self-awareness), more hills, more stamina training, which has been obvious for weeks now, ever since I did that 2 x 12m15s. Everybody said I looked really strong. A volunteer even came up to me and said "you're VERY strong," haha. Last week Allison thought I was doing poorly 'cause I looked too easy. All this means that mechanics are working and that's great. Think I will take this week dead easy and then re-evaluate what to do come next Sunday. Eva and I to marathon together, Boston qualify, at next year's Toronto. [For future me: the big news today is Eva's, but that's on her log :)].

PS For knowledge (foreknowledge!) for next time:

Uphill: 8.94km@ 4:49 pace

Downhill: 6.07km@ 3:38 pace

Flat: 5.1km@ 4:01 pace
