Vern Half: SO grateful for the surprisingly nice weather (cold & DRY the whole way,) for the beautiful volunteers and for the stunning forest on this course. I gave slightly different descriptions of the course to each person who has asked me about it in the past few weeks. Today it's pretty fresh in my memory: lovely downhill for the first mile, flat for about 3 miles, then a steady (and increasingly steep) climb for about 9 miles. The final mile includes the sharp descent followed by a flat 1/4 mile stretch. It was fun to see friends and running buddies before, during & after. I got to take home the blue by default since the overall winner shares my age group.
