Notes

This went so far beyond my expectations! Coming off a cold earlier this week, I set a very conservative goal (1:18) and blew that out of the water. I started out with a very relaxed 7:26, and although I feared that was too fast, I held about that pace for about half the race! I faded a little but not by much.

Splits were: 7:26, 7:40, 7:31, 7:28, 7:48, 7:56, 8:05, 7:47, 9:03 (1.3) = 1:10:47. This is a lifetime PR by 5:32. All that mileage is paying off!

Everyone in our group did a really great job today and they all deserve a round of applause! (clap clap clap) Mark got a 20-odd minute PR over last year's mini training series 15K.

One of the neatest things about the race was the thick fog on many parts of the course. With only about 70 people in a 9.3-mile course, things got pretty spread out, so it was easy to lose sight of the person in front of you. Sometimes you could see faint shapes bobbing up ahead, like phantoms. Very eerie and cool.
