Notes

We started out running across the Harry S Truman Dam, it was beautiful looking out across the land below the dam but there were strong (and cold) winds fom the NW, so cutting across the dam. Went the first couple miles on paved roads then onto trails following along the river. It was pretty and cool, just about a perfect day for running! When I got to the 5k distance I was very happy and a little surprised with my time. At a couple of points I was feeling winded (tired) and wanted to walk a few seconds but did NOT! I told myself that once I got to the turn around point that I could walk for a bit. Well, I didn't walk at all, the entire distance and even had some in me to speed up occasionally for a little at a time.

I truly felt like (for the first time) I left it all out on the course! When I crossed the finish line at 1:02 I was beside myself with joy an excitement!! I had set a goal for myself to finish at least 1:15 (I've never run a 10K race) and when I realized the time...well, I don't have to explain it to those of you that have been there. For those that haven't, it's better than any drug I can imagine! I was pumped up for the rest of the day and an absolute chatter-box every where I went!

Great race! I got first in mens group 30-39 for the 10K and had the best race to date! I definitely want to continue to improve but today was an almost perfect day! Also...I wore my medal all day!
