Notes

This was a run/walk in my Inov8 F-lite 195, but not a run/walk interval mix like I have done before. This workout was slightly odd. I still have the blood blister on my left heel. If I press on it, it is a bit sensitive. So, I decided to wear some footwear instead of pounding on it by running BF. I also wore some thick Tholro mini-crew for a bit of extra cushion. Even with this, I could still feel that spot every once in a while. But, that is not the odd part. About a quarter mile into my warm-up walk, both calves were tight. Normally, it is the achilles that tighten and much later. Perhaps not being zero-drop contributed to this. I have previously been able to nasal breath up to a 160 HR and at least into the 150s. Today, I got the urge to mouth breath as low as 130. I ended up alternating back and forth for the rest of the run. By two miles in, both of my heels began to get numb, though I did not totally lose sensation as I had with the NB Minimus Road. After enough of this and a little speed run down the boat ram, I started my cool down walk early. Shortly thereafter, the numbness went away. I'm not sure what was up with this workout. I suspect it was a combination of things. I have been fighting off the pneumonia my wife has been dealing with. As I work from home, there have not been many breaks from my exposure to it. I didn't get much sleep last night. I finished a large cup of coffee just before starting. Then there are the shoes and the slight heel rise. So, lots of factors combined. Other than getting some exercise, there was also one notable good thing about it. Even with the extra weight of the shoes, my HR did not go very high until I sped up going down the boat ramp.
