barefoot, all on sand
finally won this race
hot and windy and toughest layout yet with two turnarounds and more veering up and down the beach than before; a bit of soft sand, especially at the end; a few tidepools to navigate or splash through
fell behind one mile in and at 2 miles my right calf seized up from running barefoot
started running with a heel strike and rapid shorter strides and battled back; took the lead with about a mile to go and held on
taking a few days off to let calf recover
