Welp that makes for 200 laps ran at the indoor conference championships. It's been a wild ride and I'm glad to say the last one was the one I had the most fun running. This weekend I had full intentions of running championship style races and not worrying about the clock whatsoever. I had my qualifying times done so I could do just that. Heinz led the first 2 laps, then I led 2, then Tom Altier led 4 laps and then I took over again and just started to run faster and faster each lap. I kept seeing Simpson kids cheering so I knew Spencer was close. Every lap I just put a surge in to try and gap him. With 500 meters left I just started to send it. I can close hard when I want to. Haven't had that fast of a close in along time. It also helps when the first k is slower than 5k pace. I loved just being able to build throughout and take what the race gave me. I love being in a good field and just getting to "play track" as Chapman would say. This was also a huge confidence boost going into nationals. Ready for a week off and then one more "40-lapper."
