Got to the start line an hour before hand and literally no one was there. Well there were a handful of people. Ran into this dude that runs for Minnesota Distance Elite. We both and saw each other and had the same exact thought "fuck, didn't think anyone fast would be here." We warmed up together and ran the entire race together too. Honestly I just wanted an easy win and a sub 70 effort. Around 5.5 miles in we both made a pact to just split the winnings and not go to the well. Which I was very okay with because shortly after we made the pact my back had a small spot kind of tighten up, and then my hammy got super tight and it felt like I had to pull it through the entire second half. I also took a Gu at the halfway mark and it went right through my entire system and I had to crap the last 4 miles. So I was very happy we decided to split the cash. With two miles to go we rock paper scissored for who got the "official" win. Sadly I lost that. Eased up the last 50 meters and let the guy beat me, per our agreement. Caleb and his family was shouting at me to beat him, little did they know we had made an agreement. Nice to leave Boji with a nice $200 paycheck after I Venmoed Caleb $50 for transportation services that may or may not have included a $90 speeding ticket that we received 15 minutes out from our destination the night before.
Also learned that the guy I raced with was married to Josh Moen's sister. Small world I guess. In and out of the bathroom for 2 hours following the race. Was very annoyed that there was only one bathroom and no porta-potties. They also ran out of water. Those are two basic necessities when hosting a series of races like they did today.
Now time for a big ass, much needed break. Been racing for 9ish months straight with almost no breaks in hard training. Looking to gear up for a big fall.
