Hate to say this in a 25 lap race, but I shot myself in the foot the first 2 laps. The plan was to run with Simpson guys from the start. After 2 laps I look up and they were 50 meters ahead of me. Nobody around me wanted to take the lead. Chapman said "you just gonna give it to them?" So I made a dumb decision and took the lead. Ran almost identical laps as the Simpson pack shaving off a little less than a second each lap. Did all of the work in the race. After leading for 6 or 7 laps I literally told someone else to lead, said that I was done doing it. Adams told me his coach gave him specific orders on when to go. So sure enough I lead for another lap or so. Then I swung out to give it to them with about 15 to go. We ran around a 78 second lap mid race. But they finally took it. Fricken Kauder also went ahead of me which I didn't like at all. He was cutting me off a lot. The worst part was when I tried to pass him he would sprint like a middle school kid. With about 1k to go I finally broke free from the shackles of Preston Kauder. After that they had no answer. Wolak and him both finished behind me. 2nd place was 14 seconds from me. No doubt in my mind if I would have done what coach told me I could have closed that gap. Lotta steam leaving this one, kinda doubting myself going into day 2.
PS) This is how I felt right after the race. Afterwards I knew I was just pissed because I was on the butt end of some smart racing. Usually I am the one in control and during that race I was not.
