Pre nats race! Awesome experience to add to my running career thus far. Not a good day for the team in the sense that we wanted to be farther up than we did. We did what we were "expected" to do, but for most of us that isn't good enough and most of us are still hungry and know we can do better.
As far as my race went I had a pr, but still think I could have went 20 seconds faster. I went out controlled with Spencer and Liam. After about a 1.5 miles I started to move up. I basically moved up the entire race after that. I caught up to Mitch and Aaron, and went by them. One pivotal moment in my race was when I caught up to Joey Shultz from Loras. I know I have beaten him before, but today he beat me. I went with him for about 10 seconds and dropped off him. The reason I did that was stupid. I thought to myself that I was already sitting at 7th on the team so why did I need to move up? That ruined my race and I regret thinking like that. The point of racing is not to beat you own team, but the other competitors. If I would have went with Shultz, I would have nearly finished with Casey and Joel, and could have potentially scored for the team. I plan at racing with a lot more confidence at conference. I WILL beat him, we WILL beat Loras, and we WILL win both trophies. The one thing to remember for everyone else who didn't race as well as they would have is that it matters the most on November 18.
