Notes

Last year at this time, 5:19 pace was faster than my race pace. The plan was for Casey and Caleb to lead at least the first mile so I wouldn't push it too hard too early. After about a mile Caleb and I switched off. All three of us worked together very well for 20 minutes. From about 19-22 minutes it was getting pretty rough, but those two pulled me through. At 22 minutes Caleb was already done and Casey was done at 22ish minutes. I just kept asking myself, "Who are you going to be when there are 8, 5, 2 minutes left in a race?" I was very fortunate to only have been solo for 3 minutes. Afterwords I was talking with Coach Chapman and he asked me who was going to beat me in the region and if any of them are in the conference. I said maybe a handful in the region and none in the conference. Then he concluded with, "are you ready to be an All-American?" I said yes. I haven't told anybody this all summer except for Chapman, but I have been training to be an All-American, not in track or next season, but this November.

This is your season Joe! I can't believe what kind of shape you're in and I can't wait until the whole country gets to see what we see from you everyday!
