Gun goes off and just like any other race I got out. I agree with coach in the sense that no matter how hard I get out I will still be able to settle in and have a great race. After we got to the first turn I let up a bit and let the lead pack pass and I sat right there for the majority of the race. I felt comfortable there. Just kept matching any moves that were made. Cutter had already gapped us and was in no mans land. In my mind I was thinking one of two things: he will come back, and this is a team race, our goal is to win as a team above all else. After we hit the 5k mark and turned to into the last small loop I surged ahead and closed the gap between us and Cutter. I felt great at that point. Closed the gap within a k. Osmulski and Matteucci were the only ones who went with me. Then with about a K to go Matteucci went and I started to go with him. He then gapped me a little. I thought I had Osmulski at that point but then he kicked hard at the finish and got me. Coach wants to see me grind a little more the last 800 meters. I totally agree, I can kick way harder than that and start it from further back. This race was another step in the right direction. I feel like I can go toe to toe with anyone right now.
