This was the worst race I've ever run. I was so excited for this race and to celebrate my fitness at a dope event. But then my eyesight kept getting worse and worse as race time approached. Over the last 2 months I have been dealing with a horrible allergic reaction in my eyes. It all started when Portland was all smokey from the fires in the east. I went to several doctors (and racked up over $1,000 in medical bills) and nothing helped. Then I was put on Prednisone (a very strong steroid that is used as an anti-inflammatory). I was on my first round for 18 days because they have a taper system of 666555444333222111. The day after I got of it I started to swell up again, so they put right back on it for a grand total of 30+ days on one of the world's strongest anti-inflammatories. Don't get me wrong, I felt great, better than ever, because I was on a steroid. Now my body has to re-learn how to function without it again.

Anyways, onto the actual race. 5 1-mile laps on some horrible terrain. Started in the middle of the track, then looped behind a narrow ballfield, then over some gravel, then down a steep little step-like hill, then over some asphalt, then over a haybale, then under a low hanging branch, then through a muddy puddle in essentially a hole, then a u-turn, then more gravel, then around a practice field, then it went 300 meters around the track.

All in all, it could have been a fast course, but not when every little change in surface or change in level has me stumbling all over. It felt like I was falling and catching myself over and over again the whole way. And when that happened, my hip flexors were getting super pinched.

This was such a cool event, and I feel like I squandered it, but then again, I had no control over the circumstances. but I also hate making excuses. Idk, just want my eye to go back to normal and to feel like normal.

After the race we all went and got absolutely blasted. I wasn't going to let the outcome of the race effect my mood the rest of the night. Brooks rented an outdoor bar with a band, and they had free Claws (no laws baby). Ended up going to bed at like 3:30 in the morning. Oh, and I also met THE FOG DOG. Probably not the best idea to get drunk after rambling about all the inflammation in my body, but yolo. hehe.
