Executed my race plan almost to a T. Went out hard yet conservative. Sat on the St. Thomas kids and went with them. One of them swung out just a bit on lap 3 giving me the inside. I made my move going into the last quarter. Took the lead and had the rest of the time except for when frosty flew by me thinking it was the last lap. From my official high school 1600 pr (4:41) to know it is a 20 seconds drop (if you count the conversion from 1600 to full mile of one second). On the last lap I heard Caleb yelling 4:13! I was so fricken close to getting under 4:20, which was my goal for today. Nonetheless I am satisfied with this one gonna put in my back pocket. on to the next one.
Later that night coach informed that the 2 guys from St. Thomas are their number 1 and 2 runners, and they were all region.
Side note: That was the first "varsity" race I have ever won. My previous wins have all either been very small road races, or jv races in high school.
