Yes... The final 10k was nearly 48 minutes, and mostly the result of a horrendous mile 23-24-25 (averaging well over 8:00s). Bonk began around mile 18/19, backed off a bit at 19/20, still felt the knees beginning to give out at 20/21 (especially the little uphill heading out of the city just before the mile 21 marker), thought i might survive it during 22/23, finally hit with the reality of it all heading out of the bike path near 24 (pace had slowed considerably at that point)... Then everything gets a little fuzzy. I know i got passed by nine or ten people from here on, but I'm not exactly sure when or where. I know i took a walk break for about ten or 15 seconds (at least it didn't feel like any longer) when i was about to give it up, got passed by several people and somehow found a little extra strength. Decided to soldier on and finish, whatever the pace. Slogged through the next two miles virtually alone... kept feeling like my legs were going to give out, or I might just trip/stumble and fall on my face. Saw Kazanjian and then Santa Claus, both at the final split, Navas was finishing the final half mile into the center of the city. Stumbled around through some parking lots and alley ways around an old mill, then along the river with a strong, cold wind... Made it back to Santa, waved, and said hello, then dragged myself up and back into the finish. Made the final right hand turn and saw runners heading left (maybe the half-marathoners before the finish?) so I thought I had a lot longer to go than i really did! Got passed by one or two more in the final 50-100m while realizing the giant white inflatable banner WAS the finish line... Relief at being done. Relief that I did not quit. Relief that i still somehow managed to hold on to the final open team scoring spot... Found out much later that as awful a race as I ran, we finished second as a team. Brandon and Joe were awesome. Masters and seniors won, women swept it all. I take no pride in bonking at 6:15/6:20 pace during a marathon... but, there is a sliver of comfort in knowing that my last two races of the season, made a small contribution to the team. Better to show up and run times far from my best, than not to show up at all.

Apparently... I did save the splits... Just found them (2wks later). Probably all off by a second or two, but at least I can see where I screwed up the race... Miles 6 (downhill) and 7 (big uphill) were too early to be that aggressive, but I settled down for a bit after, smart not to chase Matt. I think the worst damage was done later in miles 19-20 (just got out of hand chasing Joe and the CMS scorers...). Should've at least held of the bonk until the end of mile 25 or early 26, (maybe saving 45-60sec in miles 21-23 and at least 2:00-2:30 in miles 24-25), might have allowed me to fight through 25 and kept 26 just under 7:00/7:30... Possibly lost 4 to 5-minutes with the overzealous surge in 19-20. Numbers don't lie...
