Great hike with Nicole and the boys! Managed to leave Reading fairly early this morning, around 7:45. Stopped in Concord for breakfast, up to Alton Bay just before 10:30. Wasn't looking good early on as Andrew did not seem to be in the hiking mood... he kept stopping to "recharge his batteries" and stalling in general. But, somehow things turned around and after about 20-30 minutes Andrew must've decided that he wanted to hike all the way and there were no more issues. Happy bikers all the way to the top and back down! I carried Nicholas all the way up and most of the way down. We had awesome weather and clear conditions up top for some beautiful views of peak/just past peak foliage around Lake Winnepesauke. Andrew got a little silly (and careless) on the way back down, but he managed easily to hike without being carried. Nicholas slept part of the hike up, extremely chatty on the way down. Checked into the Winddrifter in Wolfeboro just before 5:00... No power in the whole town until midnight! Made due, and had a nice quiet evening. In bed at 9:00!
