Notes
Started off feeling sluggish and heavy despite waiting for dinner until after the run... things quickly progressed and the workout turned out fairly well.
Slow start, but I was surprised at how easy the second mile felt and the difference in pace. Just needed a short warmup? Planned to run 3mi easy, 2mi @ MP around the lake, then 3mi easy back home. I actually had to make a conscious effort to slow down on the third mile when I glanced at my watch (6:07), pacing by the playground at the lake. Began the "MP" portion not long after I got to North Ave. Felt super easy and went by effort until the light hill near the softball fields. Looked at my watch again (5:35!) then proceeded to slow the *$%# down... Evened things out eventually and 5:50-6:00 felt perfect. Cooled down for the next three miles home. Very comfortable running 6:30-6:45, including the uphill into town.
I'll really need to hold back, early on Monday. My legs think they can go 5:30-5:45, but it's doubtful I could even hold up at 5:45-6:00s over 20 miles. Still going with the plan of 6:00-6:15s until 20 miles in, then anything goes. This workout is almost always a good indicator of pace for me.
GOAL PACE: 6:00 --- 2:37:12
OVER: 5:55 --- 2:35:01
UNDER: 6:15 --- 2:43:45
