that hurts...

wandered around up top for at least half-an-hour looking for the car (red mini cooper w/ NH plates) that had my stuff. found it eventually, but the doors were locked and i couldn't find the guys that drove it up. i was more than warm-enough without a hat or long sleeves (mid-50's and sunny at the top) so i finally decided to run down without changing. had a few stinger gummies and a bag of jelly beans leftover in my pockets (from the race), and i downed several cups of water immediately after finishing.

had a good run down with brandon and sam. pat was hurtin' pretty bad, so he stayed behind with the gear. i think he eventually shuffled down, but i didn't really get much of a chance to talk to him afterwards. (he was able to help my find my bag at the base... thanks dude!) saw "sir" george etzweiler on the way down... the 97-old phenom is an incredible inspiration. i am in even more awe each year that we see him take to the mountain. living to that age is an accomplishment in and of itself. continuing to be active (walking and just generally taking care of oneself) is hard enough, but summitting a 6000' moutain at the ripe age of 97 is just other-worldly. kudos to george.

finished the run with the traditional bathe and beer in the river. chilled out with brandon and sam and met young up-and-coming patrick caron. heard some great stories and just relaxed. brandon's son liam filled up my empty can and proceeded to douse me... he and my youngest son, nicholas, need to hang out.

skipped the turkey dinner and just ate my leftover eggplant as i was heading out. stopped at frontside for a maple latte and a most excellent apple fritter.

long drive home, was interrupted with a stop at tributary brewery en route... still haven't sampled my share (tonight? --mon). took the other growler to the kinney bbq.

fun night with nicole and the kids at the bbq and fireworks. no running on father's day. my body (and soul) needed the rest...
