been a while... love these roads. had a tough moment thinking of denny and thinking about how i was going to talk to andrew and nicholas about "pap's" death... almost broke down right there on the road... then i looked up and saw a single trillium over on the hillside, all alone in the shale... mostly unremarkable, but it was right next to the old mile mark from all of my high school mileage on that road... out-n-back SO many times... strange, yes, but it kinda hit me that everything is going to be okay. just got to take it day by day, one step at a time.

had a reasonably comfortable flight home to reading. two great beers at bar symon in the pittsburgh airport. got home around 8:00 and john picked me up. had a glass of wine with nicole and john & denise. missed the first call from dorri around 11:30, picked up the phone a few minutes later and got her message to call back... figured mom was just having a hard time, but as soon as i got dorri on the phone i knew immediately something was very wrong. i kept telling myself that sara had to be okay, it was just an accident. she was probably on her way to the hospital. she'd be fine... i still have a hard time accepting that she's gone. the rest of the night is a total blur. mostly shock. didn't sleep for a minute that night and felt like i was outside my body, looking down at myself for most of the following day... Sorry, man. Sounds absolutely horrible. If you ever need company for a good long run I know some people...

thanks chris. been a tough month. looking forward to some good long runs this summer. feeling very out of shape right now, but it's still good to get some miles in. all part of the process.
