Splits:
1k: 04:54 Started out easy for first 200m, then picked up pace. About 45 secs to get across start line.
2k: 05:04 / 09:59 Felt faster than this - but was sort of going in spurts
3k: 04:40 / 14:39 Downhill portion - tried to lengthen stride and felt pretty good, except I was consciously trying not to tire myself out too much because I kept thinking about the uphill portion ahead in the 4th km.
4k: 05:12 / 19:51 Had to guesstimate this split as I didn't see a clear km marker, but I think if anything I was past the 4k mark when I took the split, based on the route map.
4.5k: 02:47 / 22:39 (pace = 5:34!???) Seems to be a much slower split, so I'm not sure about the previous 4k split then. But the 4.5 is an estimate also, based on route map - might be closer to 4.55k, which would bring the pace down to a more logical 5:04/km.
7k: 13:22 / 36:01 (pace = 5:21) Disappointed to see I have really lost time to my target 5min/km pace. Now more than a minute behind. Feeling a little stressed to keep an up-tempo pace - probably let up because of my disapointment.
8k: 05:11 / 41:13 Not bad, but still disappointed I can't keep it closer to 5min/km pace.
9k: 05:25 / 46:38 Bahhh! Uphill portion in this km always gets the best of me - really dogged it.
10k: 05:02 / 51:40 Not bad - pushed for the last km to pass as many runners as I could - didn't really get up to a sprint but at least I was getting back close to target race pace at the end of a 10k.
