Awesome run. Where to start? Tricky layering for coldest run of season to date (36 degrees; 28 wind chill upon departure). May have slightly overdone it, but basically comfortable. Met Jon and LA friend, Mike, who ran NY marathon for enjoyable chatty first three miles. Then continued on solo. Taste-tested Gu Salted Caramel. I think the salt keeps it from being too overly sweet. I would use it again. Saw a pair of wild swans on river out near North Beacon. Observed volunteers setting up for a race at Artisani Park. Noticed a particularly beautiful black and white dog. As I was running by, I hollered, "Gorgeous dog!" to the woman who was with it. She shouted, "Virginia?!" It was Janet with Sidney! I paused for 5 or so minutes to chat with her, then continued on my merry way, forgetting to restart watch around River Street and losing a half mile, but still topped 14 on the official tally and closed out run speedy and strong.
