About me: I'm a 36 year old with the mentality of a 19 year old, no seriously, I took a quiz. :) I have a wonderful husband and two adorable dogs; one is a yellow lab (Murphy) and one is a Vizsla/chocolate lab mix (Mocha). I'm an office worker during the day and swim/bike/run when I'm not doing that. When I can squeeze in the time I love to read and watch Duke basketball (and now apparently football) and hanging out with my crazy friends who love to Tri with me! |
Why do I run: Fear. Fear that if I don't get those training runs in I will have a horrible race.
Also friends. If I make plans with friends to run then that gives me the extra push to get out of bed when the weather may be too cold or wet because I don't want to let them down. |
Why I started running: I signed up for a sprint triathlon in 2009 and felt like death on the 2 mile run at the end of it. After the race I ran into the bathroom and puked my guts out. I was hooked! It felt so great to go out there and push your body to the limits and see how far I could go. Last year I really starting focusing on my running because I was so tired of feeling like crap on the run. I knew I had the speed in me somewhere, I just had to find it. After a year of dedicated training to my running, I finally feel I have broken through the barrier and feel comfortable running for longer distances at speeds I could only dream about 5 years ago. |
