Notes

Had a rough runs Friday and Saturday. I didn't feel fresh at all. Didn't help that I spent a couple hours walking around Target Field Saturday.

The warmup felt just ok, maybe even poor. Don't know if my head wasn't in it or what. Just nothing felt good. Decided at the last second to go with the flats rather than the lightweights. Did strides with the group and then went over and sat by myself to try and get my head into it.

First mile was a little slower than I wanted, but I was about 10 feet behind Jake, Todd, and Charlie. That is where I wanted to be. Kept that same position to around William Mitchell. I felt fairly comfortable through two miles.

Got around William Mitchell and saw coach. I thought I was running pretty good (obviously I was slow) and thought I was picking up the pace. Todd started to come back to me and I put a ""surge"" to get ahead of him. I was hoping he'd catch up and we'd work to get Jake, but wasn't to be. All of a sudden I lost sight of Jake. Dangit.

I don't know what happened that fourth mile. Might have been headwind and uphill, but most likely lack of concentration. I got to the top of the hill and some guy was going to pass me. I thought there was no way I was going to let him past. Even if that meant being one of the dorks that sprints out of control at the end of a race. I finally dropped him as I was about to a block from the finish.

I was a bit disappointed at the middle two miles. It still bugs me that I let that much time get away from me. But I am satisfied with how I recovered for the last mile. I'm also satisfied that this time puts me well within my goals for Fargo.
