I'll take a dub

CSU Pueblo Early Bird Invite. The top 2 seeds opted for the 10k this morning (which I don't blame them, the field was stacked) so I lined up as the first seed. With it being my first track race in 3 years I was very happy to chill on the rail behind the leader until a mile to go and then did my best Luke Witvliet MIAAs impression. Even though I wanted to run a little faster, it's on me for not pushing the pace earlier. I'll take a windy, pretty in-control 15 flat altitude converted 5k. Onto some final prep for WASHU!

Thanks be to God for the good day overall. The first race of a season always feels a little weird, normally it's more of a shock to the system (which given that I went out at a pretty chill pace wasn't the case), but I still felt the less mentally locked-inness that comes with the first race. Definitely happy I raced and got in good experience running in a pack for as long as I did. I guess I need to eat a touch less because I felt a little bloated mid-race, it wasn't bad but wasn't ideal, and the last 4 laps I was able to do what I wanted with the field which was good, but definitely can pull more out of myself in a more competitive scenario. I was trying to push harder but I also head checked and saw I was clear so I definitely think I have even more gears in that sort of scenario if someone stayed on my back for longer. Muscularly I felt good, and I was happy with how quickly my body rebounded post-race. It wasn't like I felt 100% but I felt very much better than I normally would feel post-race. All in all a good day to get back in the racing routine again in a way that I couldn't simulate in a solo workout.

(I included the strides and jogging on the track before the race in the mileage)
