Went out a little too fast the first mile, 8:20 pace. The second mile was 8:42 pace and I knew I was in trouble. Last 1.1 miles was apparently 8:45 pace, which means I held pretty steady for the last 2.1 miles after a too fast first mile. I'm actually a little surprised by that. It felt like I slowed down a lot. I did slow down at the very end. I actually gagged several times and was afraid I would vomit but somehow held it in check and finished. My first time in the 26s since May. Would obviously be better to pace myself more evenly, but I was pleased by my time, especially given my recent slower race times.
So I have two shots at sub-26 before the end of the year. It will be a bit of a push, based on this time, but not completely impossible. We'll see....
