Chicago's Perfect 10
gah, sucked wind. could have put in more effort but I don't think I would have come close to a PR. I'm in better shape than last year, drinking much less (2 cocktails last night, early-ish), was in bed by 10 and lights out by 10:30.
I did stop for 1-2 minutes to see if Chad was behind me (wasn't), figured I wasn't going to PR so maybe we could run together.
Sick with a cold, hacking, coughing, stuffed nose - I'm attributing poor performance to this.
Forgot to eat before leaving the house - not sure how much this actually contributed.
Started my period - don't think this should make a difference, just an observation.
Four weeks out from marathon - I feel recovered, maybe not completely?
Psyched myself out a bit wanting that PR - probably did start out too fast, should have been a bit more conservative.
Possibly overdressed - I didn't want to be cold!
mostly need more MILES, MILES, MILES!
Still think I could stand to lose 10 pounds and definitely need to lower body fat percentage (diet and weights). WTF!
All to say that of course it was a beautiful fall day, bit of a wind, blue sky, blue-green lake, leaves changing. I tried to take it in as much as I could. Same beautiful day last year at this race although I remember it being a bit more brisk and windy. Chad finished his first 10 mile race today! 1:43:55
MTA: looking back at this, iron deficiency was probably playing a large part.
