UCTC Track Series - goal 6:49. came out at 6:48.8 according to the timer as I passed him. (and 6:47.6 by official results? - these look sort of botched on the site)

must have been on pace for closer to 7 cause I sprinted like a mad person that last 100m. got it either way. kind of surprised my quads and hamstrings let me get away with it. really helped to run in a little pack. I think I heard 1:38 for the first lap and then :44 something on the second which makes absolutely no sense. in any case, probably started a tiny bit too fast. eh, whatever.

got there 5:45ish. first heat of mile started around 7:30pm (<5:00). second heat was 29 people (>5:00). really a great meet. so fun watching the 800 medley, batons and all. got asked to stand on one guy's block at the start. that was cool. and the littlest of kids, just tearing the track up. so freaking cool. ran a warm up during the 2 mile. And then so many heats of the 100m. 2-3 other older folks (>40) running the mile, guys. otherwise, teenagers and littler kids. so fun and so crazy. got to get back.

lungs/chest burning on the walk to the car. what a great night.

ways this could have gone better:

1. don't go out the night before. still, it's hard to say no to a friend's rock show.

2. run in the inside lane. i was running in the 2nd/3rd lane trying to stay with some little packs. still, probably helped more than hurt.

3. lose 5-10 pounds. yeah, it's fine to be a normal weight, but need to eat better and lose weight to get faster.

4. the marathon pace run the day before was possibly the hardest workout i've ever done. doing this 24 hours prior to the race could not have been helpful.

can i ever go sub-6? i honestly don't know!
