TRAIL - Nearly Sane 13.1 Trail Run - Half Day Forest Preserve - Vernon Hills

the humidity and heat was fucking miserable. the race itself was not totally miserable. this was a beautiful run and I felt strong (relatively) for the first half or so. and then the accumulated fatigue and heat bore down. clearly not used to this after being in the mountains for two weeks. for comparison sake, the miami half in jan was marginally less humid and hot and really sucked - retrospectively from the anemia. comparing the two, progress has been made for sure on the iron front. still think things could be better with the iron. and consistency, if i can get this body to cooperate. endurance!! back from vacation, which should allow more structure for sure. maybe could have used a few more calories. had a 250 cal Clif bar on the way to the race. maybe just an extra shot of OJ would have been nice before leaving the house. very modest hills. crushed gravel trails (should i expect slowing from this? i don't know). and could i have tried harder? probably a bit. these shoes are fantastic, absolutely no problems. get the weight down to 125# for Oct racing and all the rest (miles, the miles! and iron) and should be ready for some PRs.
