Notes

Heavy rain with thunderstorms before start and for first hour.

First year of wave start. I was in 10th wave scheduled for 945 but we went at 935. Think a lot of DNS's because of the rain.

Rain stopped about the time we got to top of Windham. Trail was really greasy going down, lost 10 minutes relative to last year going from Windham to base of Blackhead.

Ran much of the race with Chris Reynolds.

Running on fat this year, no carbs. Have been doing low carb/high fat for 2-3 weeks now. Amazingly more even, consistent energy levels and focus.

Had 3-4 scrambled eggs (with half & half) for bkfst about 6am. Ate one hard-boiled egg at start area. Ate about half of one small beef summer sausage stick, 2 cheese sticks, and one peanut butter/chocolate pack (with very low carbs--maybe 7 grams?). No food in aid stations. Water and S-caps. Felt fantastic, never crashed, good focus all day. Just move slow on the wet rocks and mud. Live to run another day. Felt great at end and continued feeling great later at night.
