Diane's call. Headed north of Riverfront Park on vineyard work roads and levees adjacent to the Russian River. We were all alone on private property, except for a few vineyards workers. We waived at them; they waived at us.
We also ran around lakes that originated where miners excavated historic River gravel deposits. The gravel pits were closed years ago over ecological concerns. But some environmentalists now believe that reconnecting the pits to the River might be an important element in restoring salmon and steelhead runs.
