Treadmill definitely isn't bad for intervals. While you do look down at the monitor a lot, everything is in quarter to half mile segments, so progress seems fast (you hit a milestone every quarter to half mile). Did similar workout to two weeks ago. Mile warmup @10:42, 4 x0.25 mile intervals @8:20 separated by 0.25 mile intervals @10:42. Switched machines at 3 miles.
