Really happy with how this workout went!
I was anxious about it- party because its the kind of long workout that still intimidates me a bit, and in part because I haven't been feeling great, and was really hoping I could feel good for this workout. These are the kind that I really want to execute well leading up to Grandma's.
Workout was 5 mile at marathon pace, one mile easy, and then 5 miles slightly faster than that.
Went 7:06, 6:53, 6:50, 6:51, 6:55 for the first five.
And 6:39, 6:38, 6:32, 6:48, 6:47 for the second five.
It got really hard at the end, but mentally and physically I pushed until the very end so I felt good about that.
Marathon pace stuff felt awesome, super relaxed.
And the last two miles of my second set were both straight into a brutal headwind and slightly uphill. So I was a little bummed that I ended up running 6:47’s, but the elements were tough and the effort was certainly there.
Thanks to Anders for the pep-talk pre-workout, and for the ideas about wind and a route that would aid my effort. I was way more confident heading out the door than I was leading up to it all day.
