Notes

Track workout to see how the Ol' IT Band would hold up.

Anders was doing 400's @ about 10k pace, and I was going to do something sort of similar. My pace ended up being something probably slightly faster than date 5k pace.

I ran between 91 and 94 seconds for mine, and I don't think I could run a 5k at that right now. So probably overall the 400's were faster than I intended them to be, but they never really got hard so I'm fine with it.

I did 7 by myself, and then joined Anders for 2 of his, so the last 2 are at slightly slower than his pace, and definitely not my 5k or 10k pace, hah. Remember those days when I used to be able to run a mile at that pace? and faster? woof.

But if felt good. The first 7 didn't feel taxing, so I was pleased about that.

for those following along at home, here's the update I've been alluding to but haven't given for the last week or so.

Last wednesday I went to Gear West and saw a woman named Wendi who is a PT who specializes in gait analysis.

Long story short, she changed my shoes, gave me inserts, and a 5mm heel lift in my right leg.

Apparently my R leg is 5mm shorter than my left, her take away was that because of that my L5 has been pinched over the years, my R glute hasn't been firing in a couple years, and apparently when she tested me my pelvis was not level and my L hip was 1.5 inches higher than my right.

I'm now running in Brooks Pureflow shoes, a racer trainer, instead of the tried and true hokas I've been training in over the last 3 years, and things seem to be going well thus far?

Hopes aren't too high.

Cautiously optimistic.

She did mention that because of all the elements of the new set-up I would have lots of small aches and pains in different muscle(s) on both sides as I adjust, and she was right. Everything hurtz.

Right now I finish most runs and say to Anders "well, I'm 87% sure my IT Band felt okay, but its hard to tell because there i so much going on in my lower legs/knees/hips on both sides."

So I think going well so far, stay tuned.

Goal is to hit 35 miles this week, and then maybe 40 next?

If that's doable, I'll think about the fall, and if its not, I'm shutting her down for a while.

Time to get off the emotional roller coaster.

Whoa. You've learned a lot of new info about your body in a week! Wow, 5mm seems significant. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. You have navigated SO much in the running therapy/treatment realm in the past few months. You deserve healthy running!
