Been doing a lot of thinking over the last week or so- about what I want the spring to look like- what the fall might hold, etc. It's impossible to predict what the fall will bring regarding opportunities to race. And it's not helping me to try to predict what it will be.

I decided my plan is to take the next month and run a few time trials at shorter ish distances- probably 5k, maybe a mile? maybe a 10k?, undecided just yet. I'm looking forward to hopefully taking some fitness that I think I have and seeing what I can do in a race-like scenario. Additionally, it affords my the flexibility to race a 5k, mile, 10k, etc as an end in itself, and not just as part of a build-up to a longer race/means to an end. I feel like this spring is offering me the chance to do that in a way I haven't had for a couple years and fingers crossed won't have for a couple more. Plus, this plan excites me more at the moment than continuing a cycle aimed at a half/full that certainly isn't going to happen this spring and may or may not happen this year.

Anders and I are planning a backpacking trip to the superior trail in the end of June, and I think that will serve as a great break between cycles after this cycle is complete in a few weeks. Will we know more about the fall by early-mid July when I could/would start up again? Who knows. But we have a better chance of knowing something about the fall then than we do now.

I'm going to take this week as just a little bit of a down week, and have a go at a first, benchmark sort of race scenario sometime this weekend, I think.

Haven't been on RA since COVID, randomly reading though. Please let me know how the Superior Trail thing goes. I'd like to try it one day and would be looking for advice/recommendations.
