Mid-week workout to get something in and break up the 6 days between victory and City of Lakes. My legs felt good from the get-go, and that's always a welcome feeling on workout day. Did about 4.5 ish miles easy, and then got into it.

9x150m in and outs- 50m speed up, 50m top speed, 50m slow down

These felt good, and though I have no recording or actually data, they felt fast. However, despite it feeling really good and feeling like exactly the kind of effort the body needed this week, it was harder than I think I imagined it would be pre-run. I think part of that is I don't remember the last time I ran full speed. Anytime I do mile work, or even strides, its always somewhat controlled, and just a notch under top speed. I always think of strides as fast and relaxed. And usually they're quite speedy- but this was a different gear today, and one that I haven't touched in a while. Really fun! But also made me think that I need to touch that gear more often. Also, I bet I RARELY do full speed for a full 50m. Today I really tried to actually accomplish the 50m distance for each segment of the pieces. I was on the cedar lake trail, so I was just estimating, but before each piece i would look up, pick landmarks that seemed like they were about 50, 100, and 150m away, and then use those marks to execute my speed up, top speed, and slow downs. And the pieces got longer than I think I expected them to feel pre-run. It makes me think that maybe my strides on a daily/weekly basis aren't quite long enough. Or maybe they are, and its just also good to throw in this kind of workout once in a while.

To use a full 50m to speed up took some concentration, and to hold top speed for a full 50m got taxing, especially as the reps went on. But taxing in a good way, especially because I had full recovery in between each one.

All in all a good day.
