4 up/3 down; 7 miles at marathon effort

6:56, 6:57, 6:51, 6:52, 6:51, 6:47, 6:47

I had 6-8 miles planned, and 7 seemed like the right number based on effort. Overall I'm very pleased with it- mostly because of how I managed my energy. I tried to focus on my form and how I felt, and the whole thing felt very in control. My back started to tighten up in the 7th mile, but other than that, my legs and my breathing seemed to hold up and even feel better as the workout went on. It was challenging, but the right amount challenging- the kind when you know you can keep going you just don't want to. And I'm happy about my back. Hopefully that means the stretching is helping and I'm moving the right direction.

Didn't pay attention to my splits, but overall they were similar ish, to last week, and the effort felt much more true to marathon effort. Additionally, last week I had 3x2 miles with 2-3 minutes between, and this week I had 7 miles, and this week's felt better.

It was a beautiful morning to be out there, and the kind of spring day that makes me want to hang out outside for hours. I think Anders and I are going to go out to the park and throw the frisbee around for a while. With just a few more degrees and a few less restrictions, it would be an awesome day for a bike ride to get ice cream or to a brewery. I hope they come soon. I have no idea where this training block is taking me, except for hopefully to greater fitness. For now, it's providing a bright light in the midst of some weird times. Consistency and normalcy are good, and being outdoors is everything. Hard to know when there will be races to run again, and for the moment I'm okay with that. But I'd like a chance to test and showcase some fitness in 2020, and I sure hope I get the opportunity.
