With the most dramatic bouts of womanhood behind me, I left home hoping to accomplish the workout I didn’t do this morning. And it went better than I thought it would. I went out promising myself it would be exclusively on feel, and the splits were going to be whatever they were going to be. And regardless, if I got in a good effort, the workout would be a success.

I feel like I hit the effort right, internally the cues were positive, and externally, the splits were better than I imagined they might be going into it. Hindsight is always bias, but Im glad I decided to give it a go.

6:32, 6:19, 6:27, 6:23, 6:20, 6:19 Avg: 6:23; some of the variation likely stemmed from an 18mph wind

On my warm-up I ran by a large, jolly, African American man sitting on a bench and he whistled at me. I told myself that everyone, including me, is a little edgy right now, so I spared him a snarky comment or a lecture on patriarchy and systemic or implicit sexism and went on my way. However, I have to say, when I ran by him going the other direction in the middle of a repeat about 20 min later, he yelled at me “Damn girl, you’re running FO REEEAL”.

I’m not exactly sure what that means, or what it might look like to run imaginatively, but I have to admit, it made me smile.

Damn patriarchy.
