Notes

Super mind-twist workout.

During the repeats and during my cool down I just kept thinking "eh, I've had better days." However, after some reflection I think it just felt harder than I wanted it to- I felt choppy and didn't feel smooth from the beginning. Like, the paces were coming and I could do it, but it just didn't feel good like it has the last couple weeks. (partly because of the 30 minutes of suicide squats and competition core I did with the track team yesterday? Likely a contributing factor.) In the end my paces were just fine. Not super flashy, but good, consistent work. I think another contributing factor was simply my mindset: I planned for 8 reps today and only ran 7. Intriguing because two weeks ago I ran 6 reps, and averaged slower than I did today, and I was on a high after the workout, and 7 reps would have felt like a million bucks. And today simply because I wanted 8 reps, the 7 that I did run, even though they were faster than two weeks ago, felt like some sort of let-down. Oh perspective, you're a funny thing. It didn't bother me for that long, and now I feel good about the work that got done. But I was definitely down for a while.

On days like these I need to remember that I'm my own coach (well, with almost everything I do stolen from Nick Ross, that is), and sometimes I have to remind myself that 7 reps is just fine.
