Went on a morning run today with Robin. She is a first year concentrated in Philosophy, who I have now met a few times. We don't have any classes together, and she doesn't live in my apartment complex, so our paths don't cross too much. But last weekend she played ultimate with us for the first time, and we had a blast guarding each other and messing around on the field. Afterwards she was going to run home from the game and I said "hey, do you run often? If so we should run together sometime." We exchanged numbers and this morning got together for a jaunt up the east rock summit.

Robin played softball in college, and is a VERY good athlete. She doesn't have any formal running background, but she was a DI softball player, she is a black belt in taekwondo, and she is very clearly a VERY fit and "strong all over" kind of person, to borrow a phrase from Steve Pasche. This morning was a blast. My guess is I run many more miles than she does on a weekly basis, but she runs all of hers at a faster pace than I do. I bet we clipped along at about a 7 min pace for the duration of the run this morning. I loved chatting about school and new haven, what she thinks of it so far, and hearing about her undergrad experience, etc.

I'm quite excited because I think she could be a frequent partner for me, and that would be SO AWESOME. I literally run alone every.single.day.

So even a couple times a week with a good friend, especially a female, would be a huge gain. Hopefully that manifests.
