Run: Easy Previous Next

8 mi

Notes

Heck yeah, people :) finally broke the hour barrier for the first time in 2 months. And it felt incredibly satisfying.

I was also extra pleased with the way my body held up because I went into the run with already aching quads and legs from standing all day in the classroom and at practice, it was entirely on pavement which has been more difficult for me lately, and also the added element of sundown prevented me from running particularly efficiently or in a way that I was able to be extra careful about bumps and footing, etc.

to finish feeling good was awesome.

The run got very dark on us. All of a sudden the sun is setting at 8pm again! And when you start your hour run at sun down, it gets real dark! For the entire second half we couldn’t see where we were putting our feet down, and certain bumps and sections were quite jarring because of that. I was nervous at first, and contemplated stopping because I’m still too overprotective of my right knee, but we decided to continue to try to get 8 and I think the exhilaration of the run actually helped take my mind off the knee overall. I felt accomplished, Anders was there to celebrate with me, and mentally and emotionally I’m feeling better and more confident than I have in months.

Cheers!
