Great long run this morning, despite the early alarm on a Saturday.

Had the company of Amanda Leone and 4 aid stations along the way as a part of the mill city supported long run, and that was great.

Around mid week this week when I was feeling sick and didn’t have a great workout on Thursday I debated pushing this run to Sunday. But I’m glad I didn’t. I really wanted to shift back to Saturday long runs, and this was great motivation to do that. My legs definitely a bit heavy to start, but they got better as we went. 8’s felt fast to begin, probably partly because of some lingering fatigue and sickness, and because I rarely start there these days no matter what the distance, but they warmed to the effort. And mentally it was nice to just be out covering the distance.

In a great way the 20 felt sort of insignificant. Yeah, we were out for almost three hours, but the distance didn’t seem overwhelming, nor did I ever really consider going any less. We just did the thing and enjoyed it. And the weather could not have been better. I’m excited to do more long runs during the best running season.

Thought I hated the alarm when it went off, when we were done with 20 before 10am I very much appreciated it.

I missed you in Decorah, but this seems like a legit reason to stay home and get in the Saturday long run you hoped for. Way to rock and roll and enjoy it!

I missed you too! And I was so torn. The run could have happened anywhere, but my life really needed a weekend with no travel and no racing, after three really hectic weekends in a row.

Maybe that's what it feels like to be old? If so, I'm there. But nonetheless, I was thinking of all of you and wishing I could zap to Decorah to toe the line!
