Well, I'm both excited about and bummed about this workout. Goal was 6-8 miles at marathon effort, and 13-15 miles total.

I'm excited about the fact that I ran pretty consistent splits, the pace was in the low 6:40's for every mile and that feels like a great place for me to be for a first marathon effort workout, and additionally my legs felt awesome. Definitely felt like I could have sustained that effort for a few more miles. However, my stomach/GI system felt awful. Even just 2 miles into the marathon pace work I could tell that this was going to be a bad one for the stomach. It was tough to keep miles 5-6 rolling along simply because my stomach hurt so bad- it had nothing to do with my legs/breathing, all that felt great. My 6th mile ended right at the bathroom on the south side of Cedar, and I went in and spent some quality time with the john. So the marathon pace work was 6 miles, and then I daintily jogged the 2 miles home as a cool down with an upset stomach.

Goal was 6-8 miles, and I accomplished 6, so I guess I'm happy with it and happy with the splits. I'm just bummed because my legs felt like it could have been a day for really great, longer duration, marathon work, and when I have days like that I want to be able to fully take advantage of them. Oh well.

Time to pick-up some drugs to help.
