5 mi

Notes

Went out with Anders for what was supposed to be an easy recovery day after a workout yesterday. However, by the end of this 5 miler I was building lactic, so I don't think I actually accomplished the recovery I set out to find.

I got home from practice around 5:30 and we headed out from home (still fun to say) through the neighborhoods to the Cedar Lake Trail. We did about a 2 mile out and back on the cedar lake trail in good running weather. Anders is quite fit right now, and I like to think that I can still roll along at 7:30's and recover, however, I can't. 7:30s isn't my recovery pace right now, especially after a first workout in a long time. By the end I was hurting, but it was still nice to get out and to experience a pain-free run after a good amount of quality yesterday.

Most notable was probably the fact that I ran in Hokas today! yay! Yesterday Anders picked up a few new pairs of shoes for me to try- in an attempt to not run in flats/racers every single day. The overall aches and pains and wear and tear on my legs from training in that kind of shoe everyday is starting to get old. I'm still putting my inserts and heel lift in any pair of shoes I'm wearing, but Anders and I both agreed its time to start experimenting in a variety of shoes. Its just not sustainable to think I'm going to train in essentially flats on a daily basis.

Stay tuned on the long-term effects of the shoe variation, but day-off it was really nice to feel some cushion that I haven't' felt in about 3 months. The 3 pairs I now have are a Hoka Clifton which I've run in before, a Saucony Kinvara, and a Saucony Freedom. Excited and also nervous to try them all out and see what happens.

I hope it stays "fun" to say home for a long while now. I love reading about it and imagining the two of you leaving from a place where you share life (and all of your belongings are in one place for the first time in...years!?!?). Live it up, you adult you!

I'm jealous of the new shoes. It sounds great to test out some new ones and enjoy cushioning!
