Notes

Another great run on trails this morning. There was a slight rain, but the trails were still runnable after only about an hour of downfall thus far. Purposefully slept past the normal 6am group run and waited for daylight so I could get on trails again. After such a great Saturday afternoon I wanted to go back. I feel very guilty and silly even saying this because I realize I am incredibly lucky to be running where I am right now. However, given that disclaimer, I realized that for living in Decorah I haven't run trails all that much since the season started, mostly because almost every run is in the morning before daylight, not allowing trails to be an option. I am going to make a conscious effort to allow my running to be in daylight so I can take full advantage of the topography. I was able to spend more time on trails the first two weeks I was here because I didn't have to be running early.

Hamstrings and Calves were definitely feeling the race effort, time in spikes, and generally a big work load on Saturday, but overall it was a great run. Kept the pace relaxed, and just enjoyed the time. Did a loop of Pines East and like it so much I did a second, why not. Time and miles to spare.

If you end up only being able to run in the dark, I would encourage getting a headlamp for trail running. It's certainly an experience.
