Mink Farm

Notes

Had a great long run this morning. I enjoyed Mink farm so much on Saturday I decided to run it again this morning. Two completely different days and completely different runs, but both very enjoyable. There was a light snow throughout most of this morning's venture, and it was cloudy up on top of the bluff. The fields and the sky were fairly similar in color, and with the snow falling it was almost a whiteout. My tracks were the only tracks on the freshly dusted gravel road as soon as I got higher than the few houses just up the road from Mccafrey's.

I ran from my house and took the dike parallel to 5th ave, and then ran past the canoe rental and through the campground to get to twin springs Rd. I knew I would have to add on a bit at the beginning and the end of the normal route to make it longer than the 8 ish miles it takes to do mink farm most efficiently from my place. The hills taxed me a little in the middle, more so than on Saturday, but I was still feeling fairly light. After hitting the stop sign at Highway 9 I turned and began the trek back down. I didn't see any cars the whole time I was on Twin springs Rd.

I re-traced my steps through the campground, past the canoe rental, and along the dike, but then crossed over college drive and continued on the dike all the way to Bruening's Bridge and out towards the fairgrounds. The Dikes felt great this morning. I think my legs were fatigued towards the end, probably due to a longer long run than I've done in a while, and the little relief from the only slightly frozen grass felt great on my feet and legs. I ran back towards downtown on Montgomery and then on Water St to Mechanic and back home. I was pleasantly tired upon finishing. I felt fit again today, and the pace finishing up was a nice clip.
