Fantastic workout this morning. Gorgeous weather, felt superb, and a HUGE confidence boost and affirmation of the fitness I think and hope I've built heading into my first half.

mile warm up, then 6 miles @ marathon pace and 6 miles @ half pace

marathon pieces were

7:11

7:06

7:03

7:09

7:05

7:06

half pieces were

6:40

6:35

6:25

6:26

6:22

6:18

the marathon pieces found ridiculously relaxed, so thats a great sign. The hard part was keeping them slow enough. Probably they should have been closer to 7:15. The problem is I don't have to work very hard, mentally or physically, at 7:15 pace. But even more than the physical practice I wanted to work on my mental engagement for a long 12 mile effort. But if I try to be too mentally engaged at marathon pace I end up running too fast. Oh well. They definitely weren't too fast for today's effort, and they felt overly relaxed.

Worked into the half pieces a little bit, and again the last few were a bit fast. But I'm getting good practice at cutting down the pace towards the end of long efforts, and that is promising. Didn't feel too hard until the last 2 miles.

Easy 2 mile cool down home to finish off a great effort this morning.

2 weeks to race day!! Quite excited!!
