Notes
Easy, solo 6 this morning. Ran from Jamie's apartment downtown. Water st. to 5th ave, bike path, campground, and then up twin springs road about as far as McCaffreys. If it had solely been up to my legs I would have gone further. I was consciously keeping a relaxed pace and I felt great. However the brutal temperature turned me around after 3 miles. My butt and quads were already starting to go numb. I wanted to keep going but knew I'd pay for it later. Even after only ~45 minutes outside I endured a painful thawing process upon returning home. It took a nice, long, enjoyable shower to feel better.
I need to figure out a better way to stay warm when we have -10 and -12 days like this morning. I wore a pair of spandex shorts and 2 pairs of tights and I still have about a 40 minute max timeline before I cant tolerate the pain much longer. I have a pair of ski pants I wear to run in when it's really cold and windy (which I didn't wear this morning because the wind was fairly tame) but they are heavy and I almost always feel sluggish with them on. I think I need a new pair of really warm tights. Perhaps fleece-lined? I've never had a fleece-lined pair. I wore my 2 warmest pairs today and still froze.
Ah well, hopefully we won't have too many more days like this one this winter. March is on the way!
Or maybe its far too early to think like that....
