Workout: 4x mile at 10k. Goal ~6:10 pace.
Actual: 6:02, 6:05, 6:05, 6:04.
I was nervous heading out the door for this workout, but Anders was here to get me to stop procrastinating out of worry and get me out the door.
6:10 just sounded fast- not sure exactly. I think I know I'm half marathon trained right now because going out and running just slightly slower than that pace for about 13 miles sounds do able, but running 6:10 or just sub for a few repeats sounds hard. I think that means I have my head on straight for next week?
First rep felt pretty relaxed, and a couple times I glanced down at my watch and had to slow my roll a bit because I was seeing sub 6 pace and that's definitely not where I wanted to start these. Second rep got harder, but I think I found it harder because it was more difficult to just focus on the pace because we were doing a bit more weaving and up down-ing and dirt running around cedar. The third and fourth pieces got hard. I tried to concentrate on my cadence, and keeping my stride short and efficient and not elongating too much. That really helped.
10k, man, I imagine that's a brutal combo of pace and distance- and I haven't even raced a good one yet.
